This year we are excited to announce a pre-conference grant writing workshop that will bring together experts throughout HCSRN to assist early investigators with NIH R series applications. The goals of this workshop are two-fold: 1) to provide practical knowledge and hands-on feedback for those writing NIH awards with a special emphasis on R mechanisms, and 2) to create a community of new investigators working towards NIH funding from which they can draw support.

This workshop is followed by a networking reception.

Large Group Grant Workshop - $175 Registration Fee

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Large Group Grants Workshop (minimum 40 participants)
This workshop is for anyone who would like more information about, as well as specific suggestions for obtaining funding from the National Institutes of Health. The intended audience includes early and mid-career investigators, as well as project managers, and biostatisticians/analysts who either write their own grants or make substantial contributions to investigators’ grants. Senior investigators are welcome to attend, however, the workshop is not designed for people who already have received NIH funding. Some of the topics to be addressed include: writing outstanding specific aims, understanding what sections of grants are especially important for reviewers, creating a conceptual model, telling a “story”, formatting a grant for maximal visual impact, and choosing a funding announcement and Institute.
